Controlling the Costs Associated with On-the-Job Injuries:

The Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce's Human Resource Association presents ... "Controlling the Costs Associated with On-the-Job Injuries", co-sponsored by Encore Staffing.

 

Attendees learned the proper procedures for managing workplace injuries and the planning invoived in getting employees back on the job safely and in a timely, cost-effective manner.

 

Program Objectives:

  • Addressed the importance of proper procedures for accident reporting and investigation of injury.

  • Described the benefits of the risk management team approach in managing the on-the-job injury with the injured worker, employer, treating physician and case management.

  • Described the benefits of an occupational health provider in the assessment, evaluation, treatment and return to work planning.

  • Described the development of a light duty program and the benefits to the injured worker and the employer in maintaining productivity and in controlling costs.

Joanne Sargent recently spoke at the Lewis H. Millender, MD Educational Series along with Alan Curtis, MD, from the Boston Sports & Shoulder Center in Chestnut Hill, MA and Walter Panis, MD, Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Occupational Medicine Center, New England Baptist Hospital. The topic was "Diagnosis and Treatment of Work Related Shoulder Injuries”.
